Washington D.C. – The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, which works to elect pro-environment candidates, announced today the endorsement of Marcy Kaptur for reelection to the U.S. House of Representatives from Ohio’s 9th Congressional District.
“Representative Marcy Kaptur is a longtime advocate for our environment,” said LCV Action Fund Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Tiernan Sittenfeld. “Representative Kaptur’s leadership fighting for clean water for all people in Ohio and for clean energy programs has never been more urgent. We look forward to continuing our support of Representative Kaptur and working alongside her for a more just and equitable democracy and a cleaner and healthier environment for all.”
“Ohio’s 9th district runs along the southern shores of our majestic Lake Erie — the stepping-off point to the largest body of surface freshwater found anywhere on Earth,” said Representative Marcy Kaptur. I work every day to conserve and protect this precious natural wonder, and I am honored to work hand-in-hand with LCV in this sacred mission.”
Representative Marcy Kaptur has served in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1983 and is the longest-serving woman in House history. Rep. Kaptur sits on the House Appropriations Committee where she is Chairwoman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Energy and Water Development. She is a strong advocate for American energy independence through funding for renewable energy programs. Recently, she secured $1.77 million for algal bloom research projects in the Great Lakes region and supports a permanent ban on drilling in the Great Lakes.
The League of Conservation Voters (LCV) Action Fund, the connected federal political action committee (PAC) of the League of Conservation Voters, works to elect leaders who stand up for a clean, healthy environment and to defeat anti-environment candidates who oppose climate action. Since the 1990 election cycle, LCVAF has helped elect and re-elect 95 U.S. Senators and 462 members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Over the last several years, our efforts have also helped elevate climate change and clean energy as critical issues in key elections.
