North Hampton, New Hampshire – Congressman Chris Pappas joined EDF Action and the League of Conservation Voters for a business roundtable to discuss how the Inflation Reduction Act is providing critical support for small businesses to accelerate New Hampshire’s transition to clean energy. At the event, the speakers discussed how the year-old Inflation Reduction Act is already helping businesses cut energy costs, create good-paying jobs and switch to clean energy.

New Hampshire is home to 137,811 small businesses, representing 99% of all businesses in the state, and the Inflation Reduction Act will help them save money by reducing energy costs. With tax credits to improve building energy efficiency, install rooftop solar, and purchase less-polluting commercial vehicles, available now through 2032, small businesses in New Hampshire have the ability to save money while helping the transition to a clean economy.

Rep. Pappas toured the brewery after the roundtable to learn about Throwback Brewery’s sustainability practices, including their rooftop solar system that generates low-cost electricity for the business year-round.

The Inflation Reduction Act made critical investments in renewable energy that are lowering energy bills, making us more energy independent, and reducing emissions that contribute to climate change,” said Congressman Pappas. “Today I heard from New Hampshire small businesses about how these clean energy provisions are giving them the tools they need to transition to cleaner energy sources that also achieve energy savings, strengthen our economy, and create jobs. We must continue to address climate change and support New Hampshire’s Main Street economy, and I will continue to advocate for solutions that will support these goals.”

“Right here in New Hampshire, we’re seeing and feeling the impacts of the climate crisis,” said EDF Action New Hampshire organizer Andrew Turner. “But we have the tools to tackle the crisis head on with the clean energy plan. This plan allows our small businesses to save money while transitioning to clean energy, making buildings more energy efficient and putting more electric vehicles on the road. These incentives are available thanks to the leadership of Congressman Pappas and the entire New Hampshire congressional delegation, and are critical to the economic growth for our state.”

“The transition to a clean energy economy will provide jobs for our citizens, build resiliency for our communities, and protect our environment,” said Rob Werner, New Hampshire State Director for the League of Conservation Voters. “Federal investments in clean energy support innovation and economic growth while lowering costs. Through his consistent advocacy for strong climate action, Congressman Pappas is leading the way to a more secure and prosperous future for New Hampshire and the nation.”

“Federal investments are critical for businesses and residents to thrive right here in New Hampshire. From rooftop solar to electric vehicles, the tax credits are critical in our effort to transition to a clean energy economy. And I thank Rep. Pappas and the entire NH delegation for fighting to give our families and businesses the tax breaks they need to make smart choices for our planet and economy,” said State Senator Debra Altschiller.

“I’m thrilled to be here at Throwback Brewery showcasing how installing solar panels for small businesses like this is a win-win for our economy. It allows a small business to reduce their energy cost while giving a local solar company like mine the opportunity to install the panels, helping to create and maintain local jobs. It’s these investments that help our communities and economy thrive,” said Dan Weeks, VP of Business Development at Revision Energy.

“We’re thrilled to have Congressman Pappas tour our brewery where we were able to showcase how sustainability improvements and investment in solar have helped grow our small business. With the leadership of the New Hampshire delegation, we have seen critical tax incentives become widely available now through 2032, allowing even more businesses to transition to clean energy and reduce pollution without hitting our bottom line,” said Nicole Carrier, Co-Founder and President,Throwback Brewery.
