WASHINGTON, D.C.— In response to today’s announcement by the Department of the Treasury on consumer incentives for new and used EVs, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) released the following statements:
“Today, Treasury is turbocharging tax credits for electric vehicles so consumers can get them at the point of purchase, rather than waiting to receive them when filing taxes,” said Darien Davis, LCV Climate and Clean Energy Government Affairs Advocate. “This is an exciting step toward making EVs more accessible. With this decision, the Biden administration continues to deliver on its affordable clean energy plan and its promise of creating a path toward a more just, clean energy future.”

“Making tax credits for electric vehicle purchases available to consumers immediately will make purchasing an EV much more accessible for those who may not have been able to afford to pay the full upfront cost of the vehicle,” said Chispa National Director Estefany Carrasco-Gonzalez. “Today’s Treasury announcement to ensure immediate access to these benefits will allow more people to purchase EVs, resulting in cleaner, safer, healthier air for our communities.”
