Washington, DC – On Thursday, July 25, Leah Stokes, Saad Amer, Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, Bill McKibben, Jade Begay, Donnel Baird, Roishetta Ozane, Tom Soto, Stephan Nicoleau, President Fawn Sharp, Ning Mosberger-Tang, and other environmental advocates led a fundraising and volunteer call for grassroots climate and clean energy leaders in support of Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign for president. Special guest speakers included U.S. Senator Ed Markey and Washington Governor Jay Inslee.
Over $100,000 –and counting–was raised at the 90 minute event for Harris for President and other climate champions via GiveGreen.com, the largest progressive issue-based candidate fundraising platform. GiveGreen.com, a project of LCV Victory Fund and NRDC Action Votes, enables climate donors to build collective power and demand that political candidates take action to protect the environment.
“The grassroots momentum behind Harris is exceptional,” said Doctor Leah Stokes. “The climate movement alongside environmental justice leaders and folks working in the clean energy industry are all behind Kamala Harris. It’s amazing to see our movement coalesce behind Harris. When it comes to the planet, the stakes of this election could not be higher. Kamala Harris is the climate leader we need in the White House.”
