Washington, D.C. — In response to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ release of a draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) on the Dakota Access oil pipeline, the League of Conservation Voters issued the following statement from Leah Donahey, Senior Federal Advocacy Campaigns Director:
“Today’s draft environmental impact statement from the Army Corps holds open the only acceptable option – a shutdown of the Dakota Access oil pipeline. Continued operation of this pipeline threatens clean air and water, and the health and safety of the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and others downstream. LCV continues to stand with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe and will be encouraging public engagement to fight this dirty and dangerous pipeline.”
