Washington, DC: In response to today’s release of the Biden-Harris administration’s Interagency Working Group Report on Mining Regulations, Laws, and Permitting, the League of Conservation Voters (LCV) issued the following statement from Conservation Program Director, America Fitzpatrick:

“We applaud the Biden-Harris administration’s Interagency Working Group for rightly recognizing that our existing laws and regulations on hardrock mining inadequately protect communities and our resources and for recommending badly needed changes,” said America Fitzpatrick, Conservation Program Director. “The recommendations in this report center the needs of impacted communities, including Tribal nations, while also advancing our clean energy future. We join the Biden-Harris administration in calling on Congress to reform our antiquated hardrock mining laws.”
